Some of the Most Important Photography Advice You'll Ever Hear

As photographers, we are bombarded by information from all directions on a daily basis, and it can be tricky to know how to cut through it all to the advice that really matters. Whether you are a professional or a hobbyist, if you want some important lessons that will put you on the right track to finding success and satisfaction in the craft of photography, check out this fantastic video essay that discusses such ideas.

Coming to you from Steve Carty, this great video essay provides a range of advice and insights about how to find success as a photographer. Two bits of advice that I found particularly important were having confidence in yourself and pushing yourself to keep exploring and mining your creativity. When you take the shot you want and get that rush of satisfaction, it is a great (and deserved) feeling, but now that you have what you need, why not experiment a bit? Getting comfortable can often lead to stagnation as an artist and a lack of long-term satisfaction. Of course, if you are a professional, you need to ensure you're delivering what your clients want, but be sure to set aside time for yourself to explore as well. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Carty.
