I like that you tried to make the photo interesting, but with the ring being the obvious focal point of the photo I feel like not enough attention is drawn to it. Next time you could try highlighting the ring and lowlighting the rest of the photo. You may also want to crop the photo a bit more.
Thanks for the comment. I thought about cropping in, but the idea was to show the small and delicate nature of the ring among all the heavy welding stuff.
I was drawn back to spend time looking at this image more than once. There is so much here to like. It can be a challenge to tell a story and keep out clutter. The biggest issue I have with the image is the lack of detail in the ring and diamond. Such a fun, interesting shot. This is something that could revisited many time over.
I agree that the ring needs work. This is a scan from the original 4x5 transparency and I lost some of the high end.
