This beetle is stunning bur unfortunately your background is very messy and chaotic
I could have gone for the usual cliché of the blurred background, but the challenge here was to balance light (the creature is backlit and I am laying on the ground) focusing on the beetle (Lucanus Cervus) whilst keeping the rest of the scene perceptible to be informative, to give a hint of the environment and to photograph the beetle in its toing and froing rather than going for the usual set-up shot. Obviously, a lot could be better and for that people usually use faked scenarios and staged photos, but that was not my option...

I think you could keep the same DOF you have and crop it to the left. The right side is a little distracting.
I agree that using real scenarios over fake or photoshoped photos, though!
I see what you mean, Jordan, particularly the right bottom corner is too close and too blurry. I guess that the challenge that this shot was might cloud my judgement of it :-)
