The first rays of dawn are peeking out from behind the silhouette of St. Mark's Basilica in Piazza San Marco, in Venice, Italy. After an early morning hike through the city, winding across canals and past the iconic Rialto Bridge, I came to an almost-deserted Piazza San Marco, where I set up my tripod and prepared for the sunrise shoot. As the rays of sunlight began to appear, this silhouette was the first shot of the day.
