I was covering a high school night soccer game with an EOS 1D & EF70-200 F2.8 with an EF 1.4 tele. Lost the original RAW file when the external back up drive it was stored on died.

This is harder than it looks. First, peak action does not happen very often. Second, most digital cameras have a bit of lag so what you see is not exactly what you get. Us old-timers who grew up shooting film have all the wrong muscle memory for this.
