I get the Idea, but I personally don't like the composition of it. It is something you can see daily, and it does not have a special thing for me. What I would try is to shoot it straight down, put the pencil in it and light it in a way, that the background is dark and the top of it is highlighted.
I would've liked some pencil shaving.Cool pic!
Thank you for the feedback. I agree I could have done more for composition, it is a bit dry. I originally had the thought to add some shavings totally forgot after a couple test shots. I plan to give myself more time to work on the next one. I took this shot less than an hour before the deadline.
I did the same thing with my two shots. Last minute kind of deal.Straight out of camera and all. I know how it is.
