Haha, this voting system is broke. I've had three professional wildlife photographers review this picture and all of them really liked the image and said it was great, but that the rock is taking too much attention. The fact that this has 1.68 rating at the time of writing is just hilarious in my opinion.
Any feedback is appreciated but giving this a 1-star rating is either not serious or incredibly dumb. You are then going against people who do this as their job.
Well, I am far from an expert as my own images will clearly tell you...so take from my opinion that what you think is worth it.
But for me it is a picture of a rock with a bird in the same frame. In this image, the rock is clearly the subject. The bird, like the rest of the frame is not in focus. While this fits the brief (a bird in the frame), I find the rock not interesting enough to warrant more than a 2 ( I very rarely give a 1 in these competitions).
For me, it would have been more interesting if you had the camera higher up and having both the rock and the bird in focus. That way, the contrast of the rock against the snow would have directed the focus to the bird sitting on it.
Well, the Ptarmigan is actually in focus and the subject in this image is clearly the Ptarmigan looking towards a mountain.
