1.39 - "Snap Shot"

This picture was taken with the goal in mind to be a photographer for hunting magazines one day. In germany is a whole sector focusing on this breed of dog: the "Small Munsterlander"

People seem to dislike my picture so I would like to ask what makes this a Snapshot in your opinion. I'm still at the start of my jurney and would be thankful for constructive crticism. Did I oversharpen, Is the crop wired, is the subject just not interesting?

I rated it a 2. Like so many in this contest, you have centered the dog's head at the expense of his/her toes. All that head room to show the handler's arm only distracts from the main subject. On the plus side, exposure and focus are perfect.

Thank you for your feedback! I will take care of this for the next time.

Would like to see the dog in free nature. Having the dog on leash makes it a snapshot to me. I do agree with Jim, focus and exposure are great

I see your point. I personally think the leash is an important part of the image as dogs are to be kept on a leash by law when they are in a forest (this applies to Schleswig-Holstein a state in Germany).

But thank you for your feedback! Really appreciate to know what someone thinks could be improved on!

Agree with the others. Crop in so all attention is given to the dog, the random arm and sliver of a leg are distracting. Still a beautiful photo and definitely not a snapshot.

I thought of the arm as a leading line but you are right the leg has no value to the picture. I will give cropping a shot. Thank you!

It's basically a snapshot, still holding the dog, the feet cropped out. But the thing that is the weirdest is the post-processing, seems a little over edited. A tad too much sharpening/clarity and something else making it look like a fake HDR image.

I gave it a 1 ("snapshot") based on the framing (cropped off left foot), the camera level, and mostly because of the arm is in the shot holding the dog in place. But that light in that setting with that dog could yield a very nice photo.
