I love the composition. I don't have any experience lighting a space like this so I couldn't begin to give you specific feedback on how better to deal with the lighting issue, but I think that lighting feels like the weakest part of this image—primarily the difference between the interior light and the daylight coming through the glass.

I agree with Michael about the composition. I like. Maybe a little less floor, a little more ceiling. I think you were trying to get the refelction of the under light thingy (that's the technical term, yes). However, I find that much reflection on the floor is distracting. Also, as the up stairs are prominent, I am drawn upwards. I guess they could be down stairs too.Just simply... stairs. But I'm drawn up.
