Looking Toward Heaven - Roseate Spoonbill.
Microsoft licensed this image through Getty's 'Rights Managed Images' for use in its Beautiful Birds theme pack (Win 7). It also sold for a two page spread in a children's book entitled "Roseate Spoonbill - Pretty in Pink", as well as for many other items such as toy packaging, iPod covers, and shower curtains.
The clouds really were colorful but I bumped their color and drama up to match the bird better. I sometimes wonder if I overdid it, but this is the way I remember the moment. Plus I have sold this image more times than any other. Are the sales a coincidence or is this really what sells?
