The image was taken on the "Schauinsland", a mountain near to my hometown Freiburg, Germany. These trees are so called "Wind Beeches" because they are formed by strong winds, mostly blowing from west. They look great especially in winter when all the branches are frozen and the meadow is covered with snow.

It's my favorite place in the are where I live and I visited these trees about 30 times in the past years. It's always interesting how the view's changing depending on the different weather conditions.
