I think the detail in the roses themselves are very nice, but the shot overall is really dark. Maybe that is what the client wanted, but the bottom half gets totally lost. I also think the composition would have benefited from giving a bit more space at the top of the frame so the roses weren't so close to the edge. Overall, it is very moody, but too dark for me and I don't know the thought process behind why it is so dark.
The client wanted something really contrasty and dark. She likes gopthic style roses. I probs could have filled in the vase a little bit more to bring it out. At the time I shot this I had only owned a camera for 18 months, earlier this year
