I think if you eliminate everything from the out-of-focus grass/weed and left of that it would create a much stronger composition. Essentially everything on the left side does not contribute. The out of focus grass/weed is the same size as the subject and competes for the viewer's attention. Hold your hand up to crop that side out and you'll see how doing that focuses far more attention on the subject. The pose is great and you have brought out his personality through that. The photo is not really technically proficient but I don't care- it helps us get to know who this person is. Other than the cropping I really like this photo.
