At first glance I thought this was busy, but the lighting on his shoulder and face draw your eyes to him being the main subject. Great picture with all the icons telling the story, fits the theme of Senior Citizens perfectly, the lighting, leading lines work well. The Japanese temple in the background also adds to the story. Good job!

I keep coming back to this photo as I like black and white portraits and I think this is a well done photo. this has a photojournalistic feel to it and I like that. What bothers me here is the diagonal post and tool handle at the left. Crop those out and the photo improves immensely. Whereas I like the hoist (?) in the photo it competes with the subject as it is about the same size as his head on roughly on the same plane. The post behind is almost growing out of his head- maybe a bit of burning is in order to knock down it prominence.
