A bit "in your face" but hey, it's not your run of the mill portrait and I like that. Not knowing this person (it appears to be a self portrait) we certainly get a sense of the personality and that's what portraits are all about. I would have liked a little fill light from the viewer's right to give just a bit more highlight to his face and to outline the tee shirt on that side rather than it disappearing into blackness.
