Dramatic and beautiful. What happened in the front right corner? I think the out of focus snow foreground is not needed. Snow at mid frame right is blown out. This is a tough shot to pull off due to the dynamic range and you almost did it.

You are completely correct about the right hand corner, I've looked at the RAW image again, this was in fact out of focus and at first thought this looked okay as it separated the immediate foreground from the mid and background, which I thought it needed due to all of the white highlights. However, looking at this again and taking on board your comments, I think you're correct and I should have considered cropping that from the final image.
I tried to recover the blown out highlights you mentioned mid frame. Unfortunately, like you say, the dynamic range just didn't capture everything, I should have exposed for this area more carefully!
Thanks again for taking the time and I'll make sure I improve for the next shot... although I'm not sure when I'll have the chance to travel to the top of Mont Blanc again lol ;-)
I too have been in many situations like that... where I will never be able to go back to a location, or duplicate the situation or light, or just could not get the photo due to circumstances out of my control. We do the best we can and learn the lessons. Great shot, thanks for sharing.
