We did a motorcycle trip around the entire country of Iceland, and this was one of our stops. Despite this place having quite a few tourists around it, I managed to line up the shot so that only my friend was in it as he was taking a shot. The waterfall was deafening, so he didn't even know I took this until I showed it to him. I felt like having a person in the photo added a good sense of scale to the place...

Great shot
Thanks!
Nice shot! Great location and execution. I think the composition works, even if it's a little straightforward (maybe a little too much empty space in the lower left?). If I were offering suggestions, I might have used a slightly faster shutter speed to still get some movement in the water, but get a little more detail at the base of the falls where the spray and the movement in the water blend into a white strip. I do think the person helps to add scale, though I'm not always a fan of photographers as the subjects of images--it tends to pull me out of the scene a little. Not so much a critique of this shot, but of the trend in general. As I said though, great work, and I think this could be portfolio-worthy!
Appreciate the feedback! You're probably right on the shutter speed - this was a 2 second exposure, and even 1 second would have captured the motion while leaving a bit more detail. As for the photographers as subjects, given that it was one of my friends on the trip with me it held a bit more meaning to the photo than if it was just a solitary person that I didn't know.
