This images of a male Purple-throated Woodstar was taken in the cloud forests of Ecuador with a Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Sports Lens on a canon 6d. This region is home to the most diverse and beautiful population of hummingbirds in the world, and getting to photograph all the unique species was definitely a highlight of my life! I chose this particular image because I liked how vibrant and isolated the bird was from the background. I played around a lot with different shutter speeds to see what the bird's wings would look like, and I really liked 1/2500 because it allowed for enough motion blur to show the wing's moment, but not too much to have them be a transparent haze. Hope you like it!
