I took this photo of a happy Marsh Wren at a pond about 150 miles south of me.
I used my biggest, heaviest telephoto lens for this, the Sigma 300-800mm f5.6 zoom ..... frequently referred to as the "Sigmonster" because it weighs in at a whopping 13 pounds!
It is easy to find Marsh Wrens because they are seemingly always singing! The challenge lies not in locating one, but in finding one that comes out of the deep vegetation for a moment, allowing a clear shot.
I was very thankful that this joyful little guy came out into the open for a minute - he made the 6 hour round trip very worthwhile!
