Simon is a veteran of 2 wars: Korea and Vietnam and he was a Green Beret for much of his 35 years in the US Army. He loves God, his country and his family as evident here as he watches his great-grandchildren playing in the family pool. He wasn't even aware that I had taken the photo. He just watched the family thru the sliding glass door which provided an impressive light. Knowing I was going to be around kids and water, I brought an old D40 ... just in case. I think it performed well.

Not sure cutting the head off at the hairline works. Adding space above and in the direction he is looking might improve framing.
Like the completely black background and taking to black is clothes.
