On mount Pasubio, Italy, there is an old path that Soldiers used to use back in WWI. Italian troops bored 52 holes along this path and today it is known as the road of the 52 tunnels.

Rob rule of thirds is killing the mood. I dont always ascribe to the rule of thirds but here I would have moved my camera to the left so that the rock face lead your eye to the suject and not away from it.

Thanks for the comment.
How? I mean, the path here is supposed to lead your eye to the subject. Giving more space to the face of the rock shouldn’t result in leading away from it more?

Rob I understand, and I can see the path to your left, I would have walked to the bend and just around that corner I would have sat on the ground and taken the photograph. The angle of the path would have led directly to your subject. I have been doing photograpy for 40 years and I am just trying to help. In that position that I suggested your subject would be in the top third of the photo with the line of the path drawing a persons eye to the subject. Please ask me if you need help I am here for you. I think that you have great potential, a good sense, and you grasp the emotion and mood of the situation. Please dont be angry with me for that.

I now see what you meant and yes, it would've made a better image but, if I recall correctly though, it was not possible to see that edge from the bend on the left. That is such a narrow trail that every little piece of rock completely blocks whats behind it.
I apologize if you got the feeling of anger out of my reply, that wasn't my intention. I embrace and treasure constructive comments such as yours.

No Rob anger never, it is just discussion.
