Date Night on the Mountain. A photo of my wife Shiloh as we were descending the Temelpa Trail on Mt. Tamalpais in Marin County, CA. We had hiked up from Mill Valley on a gorgeous August evening (approx. 7 miles round trip with a 2500 ft elevation change). The sun was setting as we descended and I noticed the turn of the trail that would allow me to capture a 2 shot panorama (D3000 with 18-55mm kit lens) with Shiloh and her pink dress contrasted against the hill as she looked out over the fading light across Richardson Bay towards San Francisco. In preparation I quickly dropped back on the trail and mentally assessed the conditions and lined up the 2 shots. The hillside with Shiloh was very dark, so much in fact I had to pop the on-camera flash for that shot then turn and while manually holding down the flash with a spare finger (so it would not auto-pop) and take the second shot of the view. I love this shot, maybe more-so in that it is a special memory and my only regret is somehow I had changed the camera setting to Jpeg and not RAW.
