Who's the fastest?
Kilian Jornet on skis or Tom Erik Heimen in a wingsuit?
A fun evening watching Tom Erik and Kilian making their way down the ridge from Mt.Romsdalshorn (1550masl).
Even behind the camera the adrenaline was pumping.
Our "plan" was to have the basejumper above the skier more to the left in the frame, towards the mountain ridge in the background, but we only had one chance to shoot and didn't have the opportunity to try to calculate much before the action was on so the timing on where they met each other didn't turn out as we hoped for.
It sounded like a jetplane passing by when the basejumper turned up in front of us at 200km/h + and everything happend really fast. Svooosj, wooow, wtf, yeeah. Awesome!
The mountain in the background is called Store Trolltind (1788masl) and is located in Romsdalen in Norway. It's actually the highest vertical cliff in Europe.
For my own part i would prefer to have more space in front of the people, but i also wanted the mountain to the left to be in the frame so i ended up with this composition. The light would be better closer to sunset, but that would make it far more difficult for the athletes to perform this in a "safe" way.
Shot handheld on a Canon 6d mk2, Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 G2 @ 1/3200 sec, with some adjustments in Lightroom.
PS: Check out this fun movie to see the same guys doing fun stuff at the same mountain as in the picture i posted.
