Is this the greatest surfing image that will likely be submitted to this contest? Probably not. But it has a great story and in honor of that, I am choosing this one to submit. I was out shooting surfers one day. The guys are all out trying to be crazy and riding big waves and throwing up big spray and just in general, trying to look like awesome surfers. But this is the Jersey shore. We don't have huge waves so to get a really good ride you have to tuck down into a curl and sometimes the curls are pretty close to the beach. They get a lot of foam so they aren't really beautiful like a Hawaiian wave might be. And there was a surfer who was doing this. Just riding these close in curls like the wind. I took a couple shots of him and I wasn't really paying attention too much because the foam does really kind of cut down on the visual appeal. When I got home I checked out the images more, I was so happy to see this. This is one of the old time surfers of the area. And look at this old guy. He's tucked and totally into it. You can see the expression on his face and it is absolutely fantastic. I love this picture. I want to be riding waves like this when I'm his age... Well you get the idea. Just living life to the fullest. Enjoy!
