Shooting the Great Pyramids of Giza at sunset/sunrise is nearly impossible due to the late/early closure of the complex. The pyramids are famously portrayed during golden hour in travel posters although these photographs most often use sky replacement (unless the photographer has special permission by the government to access the site). The only way to truly capture this iconic atmosphere and angle of the sphinx is at the right time of year and on one particular balcony. A 3-stop exposure blend was still not enough to fully define the large African sun.
