The whole photoshoot, including the location in old factory ruins, had been invented by the model. The story was about a violent child gang participating in gang wars in the slums (no idea how he came up with that, he lives in perfect safety).

In my experience it’s challenging to create child photos that are not total cliché with dreamy atmosphere, soft light, and super blurry everything. Exploring themes such as violence, desolation, decay, or abandonment seem to offer something unique, that actually fits boys better than the stereotypical sweetness.

Technically, there’s not much to it. Nikon Z50, Nikon Z 35mm/1.8 S at f/1.8, 1/200s, ISO 800. Natural light coming through broken wall to the right. Little editing.
