Here is a portrait of Nastassia.
I wanted to convey strong emotions with this portrait so used a lot of negative space. We listened to sad music and I let Nastassia move in a way which represented how she responded to the music.
I choose the backdrop and table based on the colour of her dress.
The light was a large scrim (camera left) and then a slice of hard light (using flags to shape the light). There was a soft fill light from behind the camera. I was using continuious lights.
It was shot with a fuji XT3 on a 56 1.2 lens.
Post production was minimal - basic skin cleaning in PS and a slight colour grade from Capture one.
This is an excellent shot, and honestly I think it would get in the critique. However, one of the the things they suggested was to make sure the face isn't 'small' in the pic. I'd almost suggest a horizontal crop on this and reuploading it to increase your chance. All that said, great work!
Thanks Wayne
