Congratulations to the winners!
Interesting cinematic style, has burnt parts and the reflections in the eyes are slightly messy. The lens compresses beautifully and has a great character, I myself have set of nFD system glasses and I appreciate when I see them in use by other photographers.
However, the worst element of the photo is the visible discomfort on the face, either the result of too strong light or a missed moment. Also camera is too high, in headshots is good when camera is slighty below eye line to emphasize subject and add strenght. Also reduce % of hairs in frame.
yeah I agree what you said except camera position it was in correct place to be honest I should not upload this photo to the contest but despite all you have said I still love that photo :D I might be not objective because it is my son :D
When photographing from above, the eyes are too low in the frame or we show the top of the head and the back, which gives the effect of a hunched silhouette. By placing the camera at neck level, we get a more powerful silhouette and the eyes and face fill the frame better.
What I meant about camera position that is right I meant right in this case he had a new hair cut and we really wanted to make sure all the hair style is in frame
Hair is great, but if You wanted to show it and compose right You could move one step back to get him slightly more room between top of the hair and under chin. When hair, touch the frame it isnt look like crop on purpose. Go in in case of crop, or step back. Thats only my opinion :)
That is some epic hair!
