2.45 - "Needs Work" 

Esther Mahlangu, the South African Ndebele artist who has made it her life goal to keep the Ndebele painting techniques in practice till today. She paints using bird feathers instead of brushes. Shot for an assignment for BMW Art Cars.

I love this! Though I kind of wish her eyes and the fabric and metal hoops around her were a little more in focus.

The whole series I added Esther to with this portrait has the same very shallow DOF. So it's quite intentional.

Indeed it did seem intentional, an excellent image of a very interesting subject. My desire for the focus is from the perspective of wanting to take in every little detail which I think was not the point of the image based on your description. Really glad you posted this!
