This image is part of a calendar-series called "Midnight-Snack". A personal project I did last year with 11 of my friends. Each image tells a little story from the perspective of a fridge opened at midnight and in this one my friend Ruth had done a particularly great job recreating a typical midnight-craving during a long gaming session. Her look of pure anticipation always catches my eye which is also why this image made the cover page of the calendar.
We had a lot of fun during this project with all participants, especially as I photographed each of them in their own kitchen. So we had to dress the room up, place a few items in the fridge door and light the whole scene (mostly with mini-LED-Panels and a few 30cm tube lights). My camera in the fridge and a partially broken Sigma 20mm 1.4 (which can only shoot at 1.4 since the first image) did the rest to this hopefully interesting composition.

Congratulations to the winners!
Love it! The look in the eyes tells me its been a long day and this is what they need.
Thank you. That's exactly what we tried to convey.
A little easteregg: I gave her literal "square-eyes" (or more square irises) with a little liquify… just like our parents always feared.
My favorite so far. A great combination of good story telling and a great portrait. I even love the lighting and post processing you have gone for. An all round fascinating photo that draws the viwer in and warrants many viewings.
Thank you very much for your comment! I think the word storytelling is sometimes a bit overused in photography. Of course every situation can be interpreted but steering the viewers thoughts toward a relatable situation and creating a real emotional connection is not that easy. That's why this project was so much fun for me.
i love it. Great color and depth of field.
Thank you. Shallow DOF with a 20mm is always an Eyecatcher.
Great idea, well done
Thank you!
