I took this portrait of my friend Sofia in Normandie, France in the winter of 2020 amongst covid restrictions. This image captured the day's last ray of light on her.
I am Peruvian and Sofia is Argentinian. We are both artists. During that time, we both were new in France and, living far away from our families during a pandemic was hard for both. We found a moment to collaborate on a creative project and I traveled from Paris to Normandie to spend a few days with her and documented the process of working together. I like this image because it happened while we were on a vulnerable moment in our lives and going through many changes personally. That day, creating together on her little studio surrounded by nature felt very intimate. To me this image reflects vulnerability, intimacy and the focus on self-protection, characteristics I consider beautiful.
It was shot with a Sony a7lll and a 24-70 mm lens.
Retouch was minimal in skin and some color grading.
