Not sure if this was intentional but I love the selection of lipstick and the green ring. The only reason I can think of for this being scored so low is that it's not really fitting with the contest (to me send more fashion/commercial) but imo it's very well done. Especially for a self portrait.
Hi Bryan, thanks for the kind words. Yes, the scoring system is a little difficult when you're being told 'it needs work', but not being told what to work on! I thought the colours looked nice in the lovely slice of light, so took the snap - Australian opal is so beautiful. And yes, perhaps not fitting the category enough; I'm simply a novice and hobbyist, so haven't really gained the confidence yet to shoot proper portraits. I'd like to, though. Anyway, I was very happy with how this photo turned out and my editing (though limited to Lightroom - not LR Classic, regrettably) as well, so I appreciate your comment hugely! Thank you.
I would rather hang this on my wall than 99% of the others. It’s a little out of the box but that’s what makes it special.
