This picture is a candid, unposed portrait of my dad. He’s a former carpenter who was daydreaming about restoring an old abandoned ice house into a bunk house. It is located on some family property in southern Wyoming.

I pulled up the shadows slightly and toned down the highlights. Straightened it and added a vignette to focus on him. All edited on my iPhone.

I’ve looked at the other pictures and there’s some very talented ones so I doubt this will win. But this picture inspires such warm emotion in me I just wanted to share it with others.

Probably the wrong place for advice, as it’s a contest. Taken with an iPhone 11 without the dynamic range of an SLR. Im guessing there is no way to recover the highlights once blown.
