I think you're going for a "hard" or edgy look but you're using a soft light. Bare bulb or direct flash with perhaps some fill might be more suitable for the this to feel like a more cohesive image. Or maybe you wanted a soft look in which case the subjects body language needs to change. I hope that makes sense.

It could be a solid shot or not depending on what this image was planned to be used for
