I drew inspiration for this photo from Byzantine-style art; particularly the way the Virgin Mary is depicted in Byzantine paintings. The expression is neutral as one would expect given the inspiration. This was a picture taken days before this 120-year-old outfit was offered to a Greek traditional art museum. The girl in the photo is a professional Greek dancer. I took this photo with the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L macro adapted to the Canon eosR body. It was lit with a beauty dish and a softbox for kicker.
