This is one of my older images in my portfolio but one of my favorites still as far as expression. We were going for somewhat of a sorrow overall feel and my favorite way to show expression is through the eyes. Similar to the Midsommar film aesthetic this expression of anguish next to the light and airy palette creates a juxtaposition that is interesting in my opinion.

Technical Details:
36 inch Softbox
Camera: Canon 50D
Lens: Tamron 28-75mm 2.8
Exposure: 1/125 s
Aperture: ƒ2.8
ISO: 100

Post Processing:

I wanted to keep the entire image a monochrome tone so we could really focus on the subjects expression so I did basic adjustments to keep a muted ivory color overall during the raw adjustments, did basic skin retouching with dodge and burn and clean up with the healing tool. Common question I get on this portrait is about the eyes. Nothing was done in post to the eyes, they were NOT enhanced in post at all. The subject was wearing contacts that give the appearance of a bigger iris but the overall shape and size of her eyes are natural.

Wow! This is unlike anything I’ve seen before.

I really really like that one. I didn't like the movie, but you nailed the Midsommar aesthetic very well. The face is very uncommon and the white theme is very well done.
