2.13 - "Needs Work"

I am a travel Photographer/ Videographer/ Video editor who used to be an architect. This was taken in the evening on my travels in Berlin, Germany. Shot on the Fujifilm X-S10, a small but capable camera which has brought me so much joy in the process of capturing moments in my travels.

This photo is a follow up to my previous photo which was the exterior. As an ex architect, one of the key elements of creating spaces was using natural light. That is a similar idea in photography, lighting is important. From the exterior shot we could see small windows that filter the warm light in Denmark that enters the space. And from this shot we witness the drama of the light that might be experienced by those who attended church here.

These 2 photos show how even historically, light played such a huge role in carving spaces. We focus a lot in the modern ages with how we can add lighting to a space, change the space, manipulate it to fit our reason to shoot. However, I desire to bring out and showcase the characteristics of a space. Every decision, every detail, every intention in architecture, was thought out by someone, somewhere. And sometimes it is truly up to us taking the photo, to find beauty in it. Hopefully my perspective has allowed you to appreciate architecture more. Thank you for reading!
