This shot was taken at the 6th street viaduct in Los Angeles, a construction project that replaced the older one that had become a staple in television and film for decades.

I shot it as part of a personal project on Thanksgiving 2022 as I have no family in LA and had nothing better to do and figured it would be a rare day in LA with minimal traffic. I was right. I had the place to myself and could freely walk around, even step on to the road without fear of getting hit by cars.

This image was shot on the Fuji GFX 100 with the canon 50mm Tilt shift lens. My favorite lens in the world and the one I would be buried with. I let the golden hour light paint the scene and took a bunch of frames with human and automobile elements, then put it all together in post to show the bridge as intened to serve both cars and people.

This is my favorite type of architecture to shoot: public works meant to be used by the taxpayers that fund it because I love reminding the world that architecture is made for humans.

Love this capture. It evokes a sense of nostalgia. A renewed appreciation for the architectural heritage of this historic bridge in the City of Angels.

This bridge has so much significance within the local community. Stunning image.

Beautiful photo, it gets me back in time with the car and the nostalgic warmth palette. It’s also technically impeccable, it deserves winning imo
