This innovative interior was design for a chocolatier. He showed my client how molten chocolate actually looks and it has a golden iridescence to it. I wanted to punch up this tone by introducing the complimentary color - blue. So I waited until blue hour for the shots facing the windows the exterior. It was an overcast, grey day and it wasn't giving me enough blue. So I put full CTO's on my strobes, and white balanced in post, which accentuated the little bit of blue that was outside. I lit the mid ground interior, but not the foreground to create a vignette. I was actually shooting through glass that separated the workshop from the retail space, so I turned off all lights behind me to cancel all reflections in the glass. That way, the fluid nature of the incredible ceiling has no visual barrier.
