2.09 - "Needs Work"

On an amazing trip through the countryside of Romania. We had hired a guide to take us up the Transfagarasan Highway so that I could scout out and shoot pictures on the trip rather than navigate the serpentine road. Got much more than we bargained for because our driver was a life long local. He took us to an 800 year old hilltop monastery overlooking the nearby town. Still in use for public events. Not much of a composition from streetside below or from the hilltop grounds itself. I wanted to juxtapose the the "Biserica" and the town against the backdrop of the Fagaras Mountains. So our guide took us to a favorite childhood destination, a cemetery known for it's walnut trees with an amazing view of all 3 elements. I wanted the town, the citadel and the mountains all in in the frame so I positioned myself so that I could compress the 3 together a little with a 120 focal length. I used an F8 aperture so I would have sufficient sharpness through the entire depth of field. I did not have my tripod with me so hand holding I did not want to miss this shot with any camera shake. And with the sun setting I felt I needed to plan for a little less light. I used ISO 400 so that I could also use a shutter speed of 1/640. Maybe excessive but I could not screw this one up with camera shake. We will NEVER pass this way again. And the time of day, light was perfect.
