Naiads

Another I'm my abstract series inspired by classroom lesson on Wabi Sabi photography.

The image was made by shooting on the beach at the foot of the Lesner Bridge which crosses the Lynnhaven Inlet at the opening of the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia Beach. The underside of the bridge is lined with lights that change colors every couple of minutes.

Using both zoom blur and ICM, at 2 seconds f/10 at ISO 100, I was attempting to draw the light forward into the lens while transforming the water and the bridge into turbulence.

Shot with my Canon 7D and Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 during the early evening during the blue hour, with the white balance set to tungsten to enhance the blue atmosphere. A color layer was used to enhance the glow of the lights.

Naiads are Greek mythological water nymphs.
