“Equilibrium in Red”

Handheld photograph.

Two pieces of used cardstock were placed on the floor, one somewhat black and the other somewhat white. A thermos was placed on the cardstock to elevate the cup and saucer off the Well Used cardstock. This required a larger aperture to make sure the entire subject was in focus.

The challenge was handholding the camera pointing straight down while standing on a chair and lining up the composition and adjusting the camera settings.

Editing required extensive use of brushes to clean up spots on the cardstock. A layer mask for the white side and another for the black side for the blown-out highlights and crushed blacks.

Yes, I drank the coffee.

Wow, I love this shot so much. Really well done Dean

Thank you kindly. I really need to get a C stand one of these day, it sure would make shots like this easier!
