“Equilibrium in Red”

Two pieces of used cardstock were placed on the floor, one somewhat black and the other somewhat white. A thermos was placed on the cardstock to elevate the cup and saucer off the Well Used cardstock. This required a larger aperture to make sure the entire subject was in focus.
The challenge was handholding the camera pointing straight down while standing on a chair and lining up the composition and adjusting the camera settings.
Editing required extensive use of brushes to clean up spots on the cardstock. A layer mask for the white side and another for the black side for the blown-out highlights and crushed blacks.
