Taken just after midnight on Grimsey, a small island that crosses the Arctic Circle. The sun never fully set, staying low on the horizon and casting pink highlights on the waves. Those reflections created the large pink bokeh circles in the background. Shot on a Sony A1 with a 200–600mm lens.

The soft light at this latitude can make colors feel unreal, especially around midnight. Puffins already look like cartoon characters with their bright bills and neat tuxedo feathers, so the pink bokeh seemed perfectly fitting. It’s a mix of natural light, long lens compression, and a bit of luck that made this scene come together.

Puffins always look so sad and somber. Beautiful shot.
