This was my first time trying a "day to night" image, inspired by Stephen Wilkes. I've long appreciated Stephen Wilkes work. His photos are amazing. I encourage anyone to check out his work.

To create this I found a composition I was happy with then I took bracketed photos every 5 to 10 minutes or so for about 2 hours in the same spot without moving the camera.

In the end I ended up using only about 10 frames to create this final image. I put them all together in photoshop using a brush and masking in the parts I wanted from each frame. I wanted a transition from gold hour on the right to dark on the left. I probably should've stayed a little longer to capture some darker night frames but the wife was ready to go. I look forward to trying this again, possibly from the top of the pier. I know Stephen usually does his work from an elevated position. I think it just creates a more interesting scene. But overall I'm still pretty happy with this for the first time trying it.
