Ilulissat, Greenland is a land of endless sunsets in summer. Glaciers are majestic thousands of years old giants. They are awing and humbling.
when amidst this wonders on our earth it is both humbling and imminent. They urge us to care for them as they have been here through generations of mankind! One challenge to be sure, was getting there!!! Weather is so prohibiting and day by day I was held in place in Keflavik grounded. But finally... Sunsets went from 10pm until 2am and the skin were the most vivid beauty one has ever seen. I shot with a Leica SL2, Vario-Elmarit 24-70mm. Shot at f-3.1, 1/125, ISO: 800. I used LRC editing to recreate what was seen by my eye. contrast, texture, clarity, masking Glacier to reduce the blue and bring the glacier to a more white state as it appeared, standing apart from the blue-teal of the water. the sky was masked and I utilize temperature adjustments and a bit of saturation to emphasize the vivd colors. I masked the boat and increased the exposure to have it pop and stand out. For the water I masked to accentuate the blue and used a linear gradient to add depth. The only other challenges were photographing and somehow keeping my hands warm, as well as stabilizing on a sailboat with restricted space and a lot of movement.
