Painted Figure Study
This portrait comes from a studio series focused on using colour, texture, and directional light to transform the human figure into a painted surface. The subject was covered in layered metallics, matte blacks, and earthy pigments, creating a surface that reacts dramatically to controlled lighting.
The shot uses a single, focused key light placed high and off-angle to carve out highlights in the paint while letting the rest of the frame fall into deep shadow. This low-key setup isolates the figure against black and emphasises the brush strokes, ridges, and reflective patches across the skin.
