The Ogden Utah Curling Club practices at the Weber County Ice Sheet, where several friends invited me to photograph one of their sessions. I wanted to move beyond the familiar straight-on image of a thrower in intense concentration, so I looked for a way to capture more movement and atmosphere. Standing beside one of the lanes, I slowed my shutter speed and panned with the curler, blurring the background and giving the image a stronger sense of motion and action.
