As I travel around on non-work photo projects, I carry an OM-1 camera converted to black-and-white infrared. I’ve long been fascinated by the way infrared photography completely remaps the reflectance of light, turning skies and water nearly black while rendering foliage brilliant white. The result can be a strange, dreamlike inversion of everyday visual reality.
I captured this dunescape in Stone Harbor in winter, when the beach is deserted, stark, and calmingly beautiful.
