Who It’s For:
The Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM is a professional normal lens and one of the three lenses that any professional photographer with a Canon camera will own (Along with the 16-35mm and 70-200mm). It’s expensive, but it’s tack sharp and built like a tank and ready for years of heavy use.
What We Like:
Sharpness: It’s not quite as sharp as the upgraded version of this lens but it still holds its own and as long as you’re not shooting at f/2.8 in the day and expecting miracles in the corners, you’re going to be alright.
UD and Super UD elements: These Ultra-Low Dispersion elements reduce the amount of Chromatic Aberration in your images.
Operation: It just works, everything seems to be where you need it.
USM Autofocus: Autofocus is fast and very quiet.
Close Focusing: This lens can focus at only 0.38meters which is fairly awesome.
What We Don’t:
82mm filter: you’ll probably have to buy a few new filters for this one, as the front element is quite large.

It seems that you did not update the sharpness comments, as they are the same as for the older version of the lens.
