In this video, Benj Haisch, a photographer and YouTuber, takes four excellent travel cameras with him on a trip to Paris to compare them. The cameras are the Fujifilm X110VI, the Leica M11, the Hasselblad 907X, and the Sony a7CR.
The generally small form factor connects these cameras together, which makes taking them with you easier. But, the similarities other than that are few and far between. Perhaps the biggest point of difference is the price, given the Fujifilm is $1,500 and the Leica M11 is $9,000. However, they each attempt to occupy a slightly different space in the photography world and that's what makes this video so interesting.
Although I haven't had a chance to shoot with any of these cameras, I have shot with similar bodies and often from the same brands, save for the Hasselblad 907X, which is a bit of a dream camera for me these days. Having caught the Hasselblad bug with an old medium format body I bought as a stop-gap, that little box is top of my wish list.
Which do you think is the best?
Travel cameras? It's just another marketing joke! There is no such thing as a travel camera. It all boils down to personal preferences, plain and simple. The truth is, the best camera is simply the one you have and the lens you favor. Life is simple, yet we persist in complicating it unnecessarily. Cheers.
